Track notes issue in Basecamp

Basecamp 4.2.5 has a problem with track notes importing/exporting to *.gdb file. Track notes edited in Basecamp looks all right, but after exporting to *.gdb file and reimporting this *.gdb file back to Basecamp, track notes has disappeared. I dont know if track notes has been lost during exporting or importing proces. But i have tried same export/import to *.gpx file and there is no problem.

Everytime when I join two tracks in one, it creates a new track with useless name, which must be edited anyway. But many times the name of first track in joining process is good enough for the new track name. But Basecamp changes new track name everytime no matter what, and repeated editing is little bit annoying thing.

Why there is no tracks joining abbility as simple as it was in MapSource. (Select first track .. click "join icon" .. click, click and "voila" ... three tracks has been joined in a second). In Basecamp joining tracks by submenu is not bad, but not intuitive and as fast as it was in MapSource.
  • I have to check to be sure, but I recall that the gdb format doesn't support track notes.
Why do you want to use gdb, when gpx has better support and more options (like track notes)?

MapSource 6.16.3 does not provide a notes field in track properties so my bet is that the GDB format doesn't support it. Routes have a note field which I use all the time.

PS: Although BaseCamp uses a GDB file for (part of) it's database that is a different version and is not supported by MapSource 6.16.3.
  • Actually, the GDB format supports more than what MapSource exposes to the user... (no track notes though)

Cool. I guess those might come in handy when MapSource is updated. Oh wait... :D

(MapSource will probably never be updated since BaseCamp is its replacement for those that don't know already).

Since 4.2.4 is the most recent Mac version of BaseCamp, may I assume you are using Windows BaseCamp?
