Spurious Error Messages on Waypoint Creation
Basecamp Version 4.2.4 (4.2.4) for the Mac
I am using a mid-2007 iMac with 4GB of main memory running OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) and I get the following
Spurious Error Messages on Waypoint Creation
1. Use Command-L to open the form to create a new waypoint at specific coordinates.
2. Enter the coordinates
3. Click on “Create waypoint at”
4. Waypoint appears in leftmost bottom pane with waypoint default name and icon and Info field opens over map pane for editing
5. Use the mouse to click on the Name field and change its name
6. Use the mouse and click on the Choose field to open the icon selection drop down; new waypoint name appears in the leftmost bottom pane
7. Use the mouse to select an icon
8. Receive Error message pop up: "Waypoint name already exists Please try another name.”
9. Note that in step seven above the Icon field does not yet populate with the newly selected icon.
10. Click the OK button in the Error Message
11. Icon field populates with the new icon and the Error Message goes away.
If, on the other hand you open an already created waypoint and simply choose to change its icon you do not get such an error message and the icon changes immediately.
EDIT: You won't get the message , of course, if you work from the bottom of the Info pane upward, i.e., select the icon first and do the name change last
