User files location on Mac

Hi all,

I was using Base Camp 4.2.4 on my iMac (mountain Lion) without problems until my hard disc crashed and as I had to change it I've lost all my data (tracks, routes, waypoints....). I have a Time Machine recovery but I can't find my Base Camp data anywhere. I've seen in some older posts that it must be in "\Library\Applicatiions Support\Garmin" but I can't find such Garmin folder.

Any suggestion would be very helpful.

Thanks
  • They should be in ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/BaseCamp (/, not \. This isn't Windows.). ~ is short for your home directory, usually /Users/<your short name>. You can get to it via the Finder by using the "Go" menu, choosing "Go to Folder...", typing in "~/Library", and then navigating using the usual double clicks. You should also be able to see the files in your Time Machine filesystem in more or less the same place, just a few folders deeper. Apple hides the personal Library folders, and that's why it takes a little effort to get there.

I did experience this location problem when working with "custom waypoints" folder.
By ddefault the USER\library\ folder is hidden to make sure people do not play around with it.
My system is in french butt it should be undersandable. To make it visible you have to be on User > Presentation > Check the box "Display Library Folder" on the dropdown windows.
  • Here's a link to how to make the Library folder visible in Mavericks (OS X 10.9).
