Running 4.2.3 on a mid 2007 21.5" iMac using 10.8.5, 4GB. was editing routes and waypoints today and at one point I had a simple 2 point route open in a route properties window. I clicked : invert and then immediately went to File:New List to create a new list to put this soon to be inverted route and its waypoints in and I saw the route properties pane go dim then a spinning beachball of death and then Basecamp crashed. I got the usual automatically generated report to send to Apple (don't remember if I did) and then clicked on the restart button in the report window to restart Basecamp.
After the restart I had to recreate the new list folder. When I displayed the route it went direct. I was unable to get it to recalculated to follow roads either by using the recalc dropdown or by changing from the Automotive to the Motorcycle protocol. I checked the properties of both and they seemed to have the appropriate selections.
I deleted the route and attempted to recreate it but it always came up as direct and would not recalc to follow the roads.
Next I shut the iMac down and rebooted and still had the same behavior.
Next, I went to a different folder with an old route, selected it and did a recalc and it too became a straight line!
Finally, I restored from a September 2013 backup and tried a recalc and that route also turned into a straight line failing to follow roads.
Any ideas? Perhaps trash this version of Basecamp and reinstall?
EDIT: Just restored the Backup file from today and tried again to recalc a route and the crash occurred. This time I save the crash report to my DropBox public folder as a.txt file. Here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/840qkwh8ilkzrp1/BC-Crash-Report.txt
