When I connect my eTrex 30 to the Mac and open Basecamp, there is an alert for a device update. When I try to download the update the program says "file corrupted" and the update fails. The eTrex now says "System Software Missing" and does not start-up anymore... Anybody familiar with these problems and, more important, with a solution...?
Try downloading the update file from here named 220.gcd. You then need to rename it to gupdate.gcd and copy it into the garmin folder on your Etrex. Switch on your Etrex and it should then update with v2.20.
Finally solved the problem... In case somebody else runs into the same problem: everything starts with working from a Windows-based computer. Garmin helpdesk sent me a link for resetting the update and it worked out fine, though I must say it is an awful lot of work..
