Time Zone Changes

Are there time zone changes calculated into the "routing program" in BaseCamp? When you cross a time zone does it automatically change? Is there a way to include them in routes? I couldn't find anything searching the forum???
  • Don,
Thanks I deleted the 3 attachments and hopefully I can post a screen shot of my problem.
    Thanks again,
    Robert
  • Time Zones NOT changing!

    Hi all,
I still cannot post a screen shot! But, leaving New Orleans at 12:00am and arriving in Jacksonville FL 8hrs and 15 minutes (both Total Time and Travel Time) , and arriving in Jax at 8:15 am. NO consideration for CST and EST time zones.

I cannot and have not ever gotten BaseCamp to 'incorporate' time zone changes.

    Hello Robert,

Under "Manage Attachments" check the valid extensions listed. If you want to use any other extensions like pdf you can just ZIP it and then it will attach.
  • Don,
I am trying again, I have a jpeg file extension.

I simply cannot get the attachment to work!

Just plan a route from New Orleans to Jacksonville, FL and see what I'm talking about. And let me know your results.
Thanks for the help, but something isn't working and it is probably the operator!
    Ride Safe,
    Robert
  • Works in 4.5.2

I just asked BC to route me from NOLA to Jax. It seems to be fully time zone aware (I created the route at 11:18 EST and it show departure from NOLA at 10:18 am, arrival at 7:11 pm).

  • vrioDan, Here's what I get
Depart NOLA 12:00am (This is a scheduled departure date and time ie 1/17/2016 as the departure date and 12:00am as the departure time for NOLA. The NOLA time zone (CST) does not appear in any of the setting that I can see. I assumed it is my current time zone CST, or the current time zone of the start location, regardless both are CST.
    Arrive Jax 8:14am
    Time 8hr 15 minutes
    Total Time 8hr 15 min
    546 miles

email me and we can compare screen shots captrehkopf with a gmail address.
    Thanks,
    Robert

Tried it, too. Works fine with my arrival being 09:15 with a little clock symbol showing me that there was a time change and I lost an hour.

Thanks, I was creating a route NOT a trip! I have exclusively used the route function. Does it work when you just use a 'route'?
I wish I could post the jpeg of my screen shot.
Thanks for the help and let me know if you get the same results using the 'route' method?

Trip Planner creates routes. If you close Trip Planner, you'll see a New Orleans to Jacksonville route under the user data for the 'Trip to Jacksonville' list. You may want to upgrade from BC 4.4.6 when we release 4.6 within the next week.

Here's what it looks like when I do a Route:

As you can see, it does work properly then. But, it doesn't warn you that you have lost an hour as the Trip Planner does.

As far as posting a screenshot I take it using Grab on my iMac then convert it from tiff to a jpeg and upload it to my SmugMug account and get a properly sized public link from there. When inserting the link in the post using the insert image icon I select the URL function and UNCHECK the "retrieve remote file and reference locally" checkbox. This is using Chrome. If I try something similar with my DropBox account it just doesn't work. Your MMV!

Do upgrade your BaseCamp as Wurth has suggested. I am using 4.5.2(4.5.2)
