Nub question: Where's my route in GPS?

If I'm reading you correctly, you created a list and sent that to your zumo. Inside that list were several segments of your total trip. Each counts as a route. If you want one route for the whole trip, you need to create that in BC and then highlight just it (not the list) and transfer it.

No problem. Let me try an example. I create a list called TEST and inside it are three routes called Segment A, B & C. If I highlight TEST in the left pane of BC and transfer to my zumo, I will get three routes called Segment A, B and C. If I just wanted to transfer Segment B, I would highlight it instead of the list name and do the transfer.

If, to follow your example, I wanted to create one long route consisting of A, B & C, I would join or merge them and create a new route call My Whole Trip, highlight that, then transfer it (nope; see EDIT below).

I ride past Peters Pond Park a lot on my way to my favorite coffee emporium in Mashpee. I love fall on the Cape -- not sorry to see the crowds diminish.

EDIT: Ooops. I see the problem and it's my fault. I always export routes in GPX format and store them on an SD card in my zumo. So the highlighting trick appears to work only when using Export, not Transfer. You can still merge A, B & C, but must then put the new My Whole Trip Route in its own new list and transfer that. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm old enough to remember the Peter's Pond Club, a restaurant that served great lobster dinners and was an annual family tradition throughout the '50s and into the '60s. Long gone.

At any rate, if you wanted to combine our hypothetical routes Segment A, B & C, here's how I'd do it.

Make copies of any existing routes you don't want altered. Assuming that A, B & C are in logical riding order (ie you want to start at the beginning of A, traverse B and end up at the end of C), then open up the info window for Segment A (Apple-I or Edit --> Get Info) with A highlighted. Switch to the Via Points window if necessary. Now drag Segment B from the left pane into the open Segment A Via Points window, making sure the solid bar that appears goes at the bottom of the list. Delete any duplicate points (the end of A may be the same as the beginning of B, for ex.). Then drag Segment C into the window the same way. If necessary, click the gear at the bottom of the window to recalculate the route.

If you needed to insert a route into the middle of an existing one, same technique, but position that solid bar where you want the new via points to begin.

Not sure if this is possible on the mac version but on the PC version all you need to do is select the routes in the order you want them joined then right click and select Join selected routes.

Unfortunately, no such option in the Mac version. It would be faster than drag-n-drop.

But one advantage of the drag-n-drop method is that you can pick where within the target route the added via points go, and you are then all set to move or delete or add via points to further edit the route, if you wish.
