Thanks, that's a pretty major oversight IMO consider knowing the total elevation gain is one of the most important things for many outdoor activities...
I just converted to track to see what happens, but both ascent & descent box show "0". is that bug or something needs to be done to get the correct value?
For people who might run into similar problem, for now I'm using "show in google earth" -> "show elevation profile" to check the total elevation gain.
You need to be using a map with DEM for the converted track to have elevation. I converted a route to a track while using a 24K Topo map and the asc/desc worked fine as did the elevation chart. It turns out the elevation chart worked fine on the route, it just doesn't show the total ascent and descent.
I am using the TOPO 24k Northeast. yea the elevation chart works fine, that's why I said all the needed info is there and all it needs is a field to add them up for the total ascent, but it's just not there. Tried it again, it still shows "0" for both ascent & descent in track.
Would you post a gpx file with the track and route? I'd like to see if we can fix the problem. Thanks.
I may be missing something, but I can see the ascent atnd descent for the track just fine.
Is this not what you are seeing?
ok when I converted to US, it doesn't show "0" anymore but it shows my whole trip's ascent was "1 ft"
