FIND doesn't

I must not grasp what FIND is supposed to do....or perhaps how.

I enter a street address say 7400 Temple Hill Rd, with Location center of screen and Addresses set. [It's near Andrews AFB.]

(I'm looking at the address in question center-screen; I found it by dropping lat/long from Google Map into the Locate Coordinates, which does work.)

I hit search. It barber-poles as it searches, and searches, and searches. Nothing.

The address is shown in the middle of the screen; it keeps looking. Hitting X or STOP does nothing. It keeps going.

I have similar results on most address searches, but not all. Some work.

Suggestions?

I have only one set of maps; CityNav V8.

That product is pretty old (Aug 2006 from my records). As DRTBYK said it is possible your GPS unit won't support the latest maps. In 2009 or so Garmin introduced the NT format maps which many older models don't support.

If Basecamp replaces Roadtrip; should it not work with the maps/GPS's Roadtrip used?

    Should do yes.

[There was one update past my version, but I was too late - Garmin has stopped selling it...]

Yes, I should have said CNv8 might be part of your problem. Since we didn't get any feedback from the Dev Team on the inability to stop BC in it's search progress, you may want to consider my earlier suggestion of Backing up your data and reinstalling BC. Couldn't hurt at this point.

Or, you could call Product Support and present the problem to them.

I'm investigating this issue, and it doesn't seem to matter which map you use (at least I've tried 4 different version of CN NA and haven't noticed a difference). The key is to have the map centered in the state in which the address is located before you start the search. We should have this fixed in the next release, but for now is a workaround.

I cannot reproduce the issue where attempting to stop the search fails so I'm not sure what's going on there just yet.

Thanks for the feedback - and the impending fix.
