Boy do I miss City Navigator.

Base Camp has the worst search features ever written.

What a waste of time to try and find a simple address.

Garmin, your machine is good; your support software is not.
  • Searching on BaseCamp is excellent in my opinion. I assume you are on a Mac posting in the mac forum. The search is much like a google search were you just type the address, POI, waypoints, etc and BC starts searching from the center of the map in view. The key is to center the map first. Try this to find 200 jones rd in Dahlonega, GA:

In the search field type "200 Jones rd, Dahlonega, GA"

If you need help with spelling or typing, click the triangle in the lower right corner of BC and click options upper right, for Type click the Address radio button. Starting typing Dahlonega and a list will popup. Select Dahlonega, GA and click search. Dahlonega, GA, USA will be insertion in the Search field of BC tool bar and the map will center on Dahlonega. Type 200 jones rd in from to of dahlonega and hit return. The search is very forgiving, RD can be omitted or the commas.

I'm confused as you mention missing City Navigator then complain about Basecamp

Are you trying to search for an address using the basic map that came with Basecamp? If so you won't have much luck :)

However most users can install City Navigator onto their computer so Basecamp can use the CN map, or even just connect your GPS to your computer, and it will read the map from there. Then Basecamp search is 'excellent', as pseabolt suggests.

The OP hasn't been back since making their post - may just be venting and not interested in help/solutions offered.
