  • It is not working for me and I think it is what your (KillTimer) original post referenced. I made a Driving fastest and Driving Shortest activity. In the route window, via tab, If I select driving fastest activity and recalculate, BC calculates Driving nothing changes at the activity goes back to Driving. If I select RV, BC auto recalculates the route for RV activity. If I choose Driving Fastest for the drop down and recalculate the route (auto does not kick in), the RV route is calculated. Am I missing something or does BC 4.2.2 have a bug?

This is the behavior I originally complained about. It doesn't seem of any use to have the ability to create custom activities if they work differently from the default (built in) ones
  • Yes this has got to be a bug in my opinion.
  • Custom profiles are intended to allow you to do "what if" routing comparisons. You can change any route's profile, or the profile for individual legs and recalculate the route. One use is duplicating the route and then change it's profile to try out different routes side by side. Unless I'm missing something, it seems to be working as intended. One current challenge is the fact that all custom profiles carry its base activity's icon. We are looking into allowing you to change the icon on custom profiles.

I am pretty sure, see previous post you are not aware that created activities can not be applied to a route.

    Thanks

I haven't had time to do much testing as I'm on the road but I just updated to v4.2.2. It correctly opened my database but it deleted my Custom Activities. NOT cool! I think I'll let this one sit for a while.
  • I can Create a custom activity but I can't apply the custom activity to a route. Is this something caused by 4.2.2, I am new to custom activities.

    Thanks
  • Apparently I was using the wrong version to try to reproduce the issue, because I certainly can recreate it with the installed version of 4.2.2. Sorry for the mix up. It lets you pick the custom profile, but then never saves it. That is definitely an issue that will be fixed in the next release. One marginal work around (until it is fixed) is to create routes in the custom profile by switching the app to that profile and creating a route. You can drag the waypoints that are in the original route into the new route. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to wonder if I'd completely missed something. :-)
  • Actually the work around is a bit better if you just drag the entire original route from the user data pane into the route dialog. You can create routes with the custom profile, you just can't switch to custom profile after the route is made.
  • If I select Create Route from Edit menu to bring up a routing window, click advanced, select the custom activity, and drag the route waypoints to the window, I get a route created with the custom activity preferences. However anytime if view the route information and the current routing window does not show the custom activity. I would assume fixing the save custom activity would fix this issue.
  • Disregard my previous post. The method described above does not create a route using the custom activity.
