4.2.1. keeps shutting down

Hello,

I have been using Mapsource and Basecamp for years, but since I upgraded to 4.2.1. the yesterday, Basecamp keeps shutting down on me, every 5 minutes.
Looked everywhere but can not find the previous version of Basecamp anywhere.

What should I do. Trying to plan a trip to Alaska, but this is not helping.

I would really appreciate help/support,

Pascal
  • I don't think the problem is with 4.2.1, too many people are using the latest BC. It is probable a corrupted preference or data file. I assume you are using a Mac posting to this forum. I would start by creating a new data base, 4.2.1 has that option, and see if the problem goes away. Next I would check the preference files. It will probable be Monday before a developer replies.

    Thanks PSEABOLT.

    Appreciate it.

After your post I tried all of your notes. I deleted the old data folders and reset the preferences to factory settings. ==> BC still crashes.
Then I deleted everything Garmin related (but the maps) on the hard drive (everything in "application support" folder).
I re-installed the whole Garmin Package, BC, Communicator, Updater, the works. Then I started BC and after 5 minutes it crashed again!

    Still looking for other ideas......

    I added crash text:

  • There isn't much to go on in your post, but it resembles a crash we've been seeing on 10.8.4 Macs only. Unfortunately, we don't have enough information to diagnose, much less fix the issue. Frankly, it looks like a memory issue in 10.8.4 that I'm hoping they fix in 10.8.5. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  • I am running 10.8.4 with BC 4.2.1.0 on three Macs, 2 iMacs with 8 GB memory and MBP with 4 GB memory. Don't think I have had a single crash with 4.2.1.

I see the propblem on our MBP (16-Gig memory) 10.8.4. . No other programs running at the time. What can I do now in the meanwhile?
    Thanks for follow up.

I just browsed the Internet. Seems that a lot of people have issues using Basecamp on 10.8.4. (found on some Mac sites) Should this be communicated to Garmin software users? Who is going to correct this? Garmin/Apple?

    Cheers,
