Hiding waypoint labels when printing a map

The map I'm trying to print for hiking is cluttered with waypoint icons & labels; and, with photo thumbnails. The presence of these extraneous items considerably obscures the contour lines and generally makes the map look like crap.

Do you guys currently have a way to address the following use case? I would like to print a hiking map from Basecamp and selectively disable which waypoint icons show up.

Some things I have tried unsuccessfully:

  • Manipulating the 'detail' slider that appears in the transparent instrument cluster at the bottom of the 'Print Assistant : Preview / Print'; this has no effect on my waypoint icons.
  • Toggling 'Show Labels' and 'Show Overlays'; this has no effect on my waypoint icons
  • Going into Prefs : Display : Hide Map Features. None of the toggles here apply to my own waypoints.
  • Duplicating MyTrip list into 'MyTrip_ForPrinting' and then deleting the unwanted waypoints from the 'MyTrip_ForPrinting' list (they also get deleted from my main list!)

I'm kind of out of ideas here.

Thanks!
