Graph of plotted route won't display

How do I get the graph of the route I planned to come up? When I plan a route using Basecamp and then double click on the route, the window with the via point/directions/info etc comes up. The "graph route" link at the bottom is grayed out, and, of course, when I click it, nothing happens. How do I get the "graph" link active?

Thanks,

Thanks for the quick reply. Is it possible that you can verify that Basecamp now uses thehe CN DEM data? Also, I didn't understand the last part of your reply "AFAIK it still doesn't".

    Thanks again,

I think it (BaseCamp but not nuvi's) does. SUSSAMB thinks it doesn't (AFAIK is internet lingo for "As far as I know"). One of the BaseCamp developers that come here would need to confirm.
  • Well looking at the changelogs there's no mention of it. I don't have the CN NA map so can't verify it, maybe someone else can.

But didn't you buy a topo map? If you select that map in Basecamp you'll get what you want.

Now I'm confused . I don't think any CN (road) maps contains DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data for topographical purposes. However I think most Topo maps do. I know the ones I have do. However nuvi models (that I know of) don't support the DEM data in Topo's even if you load them. The maps work and you can see contour lines but elevation isn't displayed.

PS: The "test" I know to check for DEM data is to, in BaseCamp/MapSource and with the map selected, create a waypoint/favorite at some arbitrary location in a blank area and see if the waypoint is automatically populated with an elevation number. Just tried that in CN NA NT 2014.10 and got nothing. Selected a Topo 24K map and it was.

Yes, I did buy a topi map but sent it back after learning that the newer maps supported topographic. Thought I'd try what comes with the map and if it didn't work, re-buy the topographic map.

I don't care about the topographic info showing on the Nuvi - just in Basecamp on my Mac computer.

How's the best way to find out whether the new maps support the topographic info - call Garmin and ask?

    Read my edited reply.

PS: Did a Google search for "city navigator dem" and see a few hits. I guess some CN maps do but not all. I guess that it would be shown on Garmin;s site for a particular map if supported.

Yeah, I tried the same "test" and didn't get an elevation either. I also opened the window that goes with the via point and opened the "Advanced" screen. There it show "Elevation" and in it's corresponding window was "Optional". So I guess that Basecamp still doesn't support elevation data???

    /sigh

No. Maps (Topo) with DEM data show the elevation plot and contain elevation data just as I said. There is nothing wrong with BaseCamp. No DEM data ==> no elevation data in BC.

    TOPO US 24K West DVD

    Provides detailed digital topographic maps...

    City Navigator North America NT

I don't see any reference to elevation data.

I'm sorry but I didn't make myself clear. What I was trying to say was that the latest NT map update doesn't have the DEM data and therefore Basecamp doesn't show topographic info. If I re-buy the topographic map cd Basecamp will display it. Right?

Ahhh. Correct assuming whatever Topo you buy says it has it. You'll be able to see elevation graphs of routes in BaseCamp/MapSource but not your nuvi.
