Graph of plotted route won't display

How do I get the graph of the route I planned to come up? When I plan a route using Basecamp and then double click on the route, the window with the via point/directions/info etc comes up. The "graph route" link at the bottom is grayed out, and, of course, when I click it, nothing happens. How do I get the "graph" link active?

Thanks,

  • PS: can someone send me an email with our "conversation" on it so I've got a permanent record. Thanks

You can do that yourself; click on "Thread Tools" just above the first message on the page; on the right.
  • DBROWN048, I wouldn't recommend buying a separate map just to show elevation for routes created with City Navigator. Most of the newer CN maps already have DEM data included, but BaseCamp just hasn't been updated to utilize it yet. Hopefully we'll have time to do that, but I wouldn't want you to buy a map and then realize you already had the data. Granted the CN included DEM data is much lower resolution than the data you'd get with a dedicated TOPO map, but it should be fine for a driving trip.

Thanks, azdrmn, for the info but I'm afraid it's a little late. With the info JAVAWA & SUSSAMB gave me, I went ahead and spent a hundred and 10 bucks for Garmin's TOPO US 100. Although I haven't downloaded it yet, I assume it's too late to get a refund. Also, I have a Mac so I should have checked before ordering it to make sure Garmin has a Mac version - I hope they do.

    Again, THANKS for your help,

    Dick
  • The Topo US 100K is Mac compatible. You ordered the download version? Did you read that you cannot install the download version on your computer, only on your device? BaseCamp can use the maps on your device, so it isn't a big problem, only a bit impractical because you'll need to have the device connected to your Mac everytime you want to use the map.

Most of the newer CN maps already have DEM data included, but BaseCamp just hasn't been updated to utilize it yet.

That is new for me... In what way is it different from other DEM maps, that it doesn't work in BaseCamp yet?

If I changed the order to the disc, can that be installed on the computer?

Thanks, now for the next obvious question. Can I change the order and how do I do it?

Also, how often is the TOPO maps updated - or are they?

How to find the topographic feature?

I have updated my maps on my Nuvi 2555 and my Basecamp is using the latest version which is 4.2.2. Now, how do I display the topographic feature on my map? And how do I print out a "graph" - which I assume shows the elevation change on my route in sufficient detail to be able to use it? Right now on an existing route I had developed several months ago, the "print graph" link is "grayed" out.
  • Well azdrmn or someone would need to confirm that Basecamp now uses the CN DEM data, AFAIK it still doesn't.
