Basecamp mobile and geocaches

Dear Garmin,

Just replaced my old etrex with a new garmin oregon 650. It is a real great device, thx for this one. Geocaching works perfect with the PQ transfer from my Mac. However, could you PLEASE support geocaches on iDevices. I found it strange that you exclude access to Geocaching.com and only support Opencaching. I would really like a garmin connect plugin on safari for iOS or: what about letting a garmin oregon look up caches near you via basecamp mobile and an internet connection. For me that would be the only isisue I currently have and please remember that I bought my first GPS due to geocaching. So come on and support this...

Thx for listening...

I would second this call for Base Camp Mobile to support Geocaches. Whether it be through the APIs for the various listing services or by opening and processing LOC/GPX/ZIP files (I'd of course prefer both) this is really a must feature. Ideally I could click on a GPX file (ZIP or GPX) and open into Base Camp Mobile to transfer that file to the Oregon 6x0.

Dittos to all of this. I have owen 6 different GPSes over the years and just purchased a 650 to replace my 62. Geocaching is my only gps related interest and the only reason for purchasing these various hand held models. You are shooting your self in the foot not to fully and joyfully support the geocaching.com web site. Please make Base Camp and also the mobile version more compatible with the leading geocaching website.
  • For anyone that has dealt directly with Geocaching.com, knows there are no APIs for retrieving their data. That is why Opencaching was created in the first place. To give users a way to retrieve geocaching however and wherever they wanted. There may be some softening of that approach from GC.com, but until then the only sanctioned way to get data from the website is through PQ, which as has been stated, is already supported.

GC is about making money for GC and, yes, they did close their API's for third-party app developers. I use c:geo an Android App that has "grandfathered-API-access" to GC. It pulls caches real-time from most of the open-API databases and even GC because I have membership.

It does appear from the GC website that there is a "partner" API program although I expect the T's&C's may not be to Garmin's liking.

Forgot to add, if Garmin's OpenCaching.com site supported OKAPI then a lot more folks could/might want to access the site.
