Where is the option to "view in google earth"? Very frustrating when trying to search for trails and actual topography. Thanks...
I don't have a Mac but in Windows it's in the View tab
For some unexplained reason that feature was removed from the Mac version some time ago. I agree, it was a very useful.
Following a basecamp update some time ago this feature was removed so now you have to export the route from basecamp and then import the route in to Google Earth, then you can view (or fly over) the route.
It isn't as convenient a process, however at least it is still workable.
I'm reading version 4.6.2 is the last version in windows that will have View in Google Earth option. Some say GDPR regulations and new privacy page/EULA. Others say the Garmin got tired of dealing with Google constantly changing access rules and APIs.
If you just want to see a waypoint you can copy the lat/lon and past into google.
There is no reason to stay on an old version of BaseCamp. Any Garmin BaseCamp user can easily export and then import it into Google Earth. For more information, please review the knowledge article below:

When your device is connected you can download BirdsEye images for selected area freely as a demo. You just can't store them on device. Very useful. Also you can find raster maps (the same format the BirdsEye images) on the internet or make them yourself using third party software like SAS.Planet. If you have no BirdsEye subscription you can't import JNX maps but you can insert a removable media like a USB flash drive or SD card and make Garmin folder on it. Then create BirdsEye folder there and put your JNX maps in it BaseCamp will treat the removable media as Garmin device and you can select the maps stored on it on the left pane. Also you can use KML/KMZ raster maps prepared in Google Earth.
There are other reasons. Like that all new versions break the "Avg. Moving Speed" number.
