Uploading Trip planner and Garmin GPS

I assume the routes and waypoints you see when you select your trip planner trip upload just like normal waypoints and routes to some GPS's. I have bought 2 LTM, I use 1 license on a Nuvi 1490 LTM for the car. We use 2 Dakota's for Geocaching. I use a Forerunner 305 for bicycling. I no longer ride trail or street bikes. I am very envious to the Montana ability to not recalculate routes. I have started to buy a Montana for the car several but the price for a water poof device wish I don't need and lifetime maps has discourage me in the past. I am looking again.

How does the Montana preform as a car unit?

Thanks
  • Hi,

The Montana in the Car profile (with u can set to engage as u put it in the mount) works as good as a nuvi
With city navigator maps. But u need the car mount since it houses the speaker for the spoken directions
And has the 12v connection to both power the Montana and the speaker in the mount.

All essential nüvi features required for computer guided navigation are supported by the Montana, including:
    Lane Assist
Spoken turn-by-turn driving directions with street names (requires TTS voice and Automotive Cradle)

These advanced nüvi features are not supported by the Montana:
    Traffic Alerts
    3-D Landmarks & Terrain
    Enhanced Exit Services
    BirdsEye and photoReal™ Junction View
Intelligent routing with Garmin Guidance 3.0
    Hands-free voice-activated navigation
    Hands-free calling and messaging
  • No problem,

Her is some more info and the source wher I got the info from, it has also some screenshots of the Montana in nuvi mode.

And if you can't find what you want to know at atlas cache's wiki, come on over to the unofficial Garmin Montana thread at Advrider.com. Don't let the size of the thread scare you away. Just do a Google site specific search at Advrider.com and if that doesn't answer your question just post a new one there. Us Montana folks are a friendly bunch.

    Cheers,
