I am trying to use Basecamp to view a topo map (Garmin SW US topo) that is on my Dakota 20. I'm using a Mac OS Lion; Basecamp 4.1.2. Using earlier versions of Basecamp I could identify the topo map on Basecamp, where it and other maps on my GPS were listed. Now that I've uploaded Basecamp 4.1.2, I don't have access to the topo map. All I see on my computer screen is the generic map that came with the GPS; the SW topo and several other maps simply aren't listed.
The problem may be that the SW topo (because of its size) is stored on a SD card on the Dakota. Basecamp doesn't seem to see that SD card. It does see the generic Garman map, and it also sees tracks I've recently recorded. But I can't figure out how to get it to recognize the maps on the SD card. (On a different Mac running snow leopard, it used to be able to read the SD card, but no longer, after the Basecamp was updated.
Are there other programs that do roughly the same as basecamp, i.e., allow me to read Garmin maps on the SD card? I'm new to this.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
