Routing preferences change when moving from Basecamp to 60CXs

I created a route in Basecamp with my preferences for routing. When I transfer the route to my device, it shows up in the device but it utilizes the interstate. The route I created does not use the interstate or major highways (it is for a dual sport motorcycle). The route in Basecamp is exactly what I want. How can I transfer that route to my device without changing the routing preferences?

Oops, I am using a PC, accidentally posted this in Mac forum, although it probably makes no difference for the question.

You'll need to insert enough vias to make the route go the way you want. Numerous Garmin GPS (there are exceptions) will recalculate routes sent to it from Basecamp.

You will have the best chance of it following the route if the maps on both BC and the GPS are the same and routing options on both BC and the GPS are identical (or as close to identical as you can get).
