Newbie - BC won't tranfer route to device

I'm not sure this is the right area for this post, but I thought I'd start here.

I've created a route in BC and have followed several different instructions for how to transfer to the device including the "send to" feature and drag and drop. Each time I try to send the route to my Oregon 450, I first get a window titled BirdsEye Imagery Device Activation that reads: Please wait while we contact Garmin servers to verify device activation. It is shortly followed by an error window that reads: Error contacting Garmin servers. Would you like to try again?

It doesn't matter what method I try to use to transfer the route, the result is the same. I am logged in on BC and logged in on the Garmin site. No change. I have previously registered my Device and it shows up on my dashboard page in mygarmin.

I can transfer data from my device to my computer so they are connected and working.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any experience with the birdseye imagery, I just use maps on the SD cards in my edge 705. I have always have troubles sending a route to the GPS, the only way I found reliable was to export the created route in GPX format to the computer desktop, then transfer that file to the GPX folder on the Garmin. It's a 2 step process but it works for me. "Send to device" never ever works without crashing my edge :(

Dumb question: have you tried sending the route without sending the Birdseye Imagery?

Dumb question #2: have you tried just dragging the route up to the device in the left pane of BaseCamp and dropping it there? (I thought sending was mainly for old style devices such as my 276C)
