I use Numbers, but it should work the same in Excel. I just export from BaseCamp as a csv file and the spreadsheet just imports it perfectly.

csv exports from BaseCamp are only in lat/long even if the user grid is set to UTM.

There are a lot of people who wish BaseCamp would export CSV or TXT files in the selected user grid. Other GPS programs provide this functionality.
  • This has been reported before and I think is on the developers 'to do' list :)
  • In BaseCamp 4.1 you will be able to copy and paste from the user data table. That will preserve the data in the format you specified in Preferences. This isn't a complete solution, but it should be a workaround until there is one.

This is great news! Thank you for developing a method to output in the user's selected grid/datum. BaseCamp is a excellent product and I know many people, in both government and the private sector, who will use BaseCamp on a regular basis when this becomes available.

    BaseCamp 4.1 UTM export

I have installed BaseCamp 4.1 and am trying to export data in UTM format.

How exactly does one copy and paste from the user data table to another application?

Or has this option NOT been included in BaseCamp 4.1?
  • You can't export from the menu (yet), but you can copy and paste from pretty much any table and it will preserve the field formats. For example, if you choose View Detailed Data List, choose the waypoint tab, select all the items (command-A) and copy (command-C), you can now paste into a spreadsheet or text editor with the position in your selected format.

I will say that it appears we are not handling commas in the description field quite right. Excel is interpreting them as additional fields. We will fix that.

This works in the Mac version of BaseCamp 4.1 but I can't seem to do it in the Windows version.

Is this possible in the BaseCamp 4.1 for Windows?

Thank you, developers. This is a critical function for UTM format export. BaseCamp is maturing!
I had success with copying table data and pasting into Excel and to Open Office. One uses Command /V and the data pops up in Excel. Right click/Paste does NOT work.
The only other thing one has to do to use the data in GIS software, is to divide the "position" column into separate north and east columns with "text to columns". https://forums.garmin.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png
