Removing a Garmin device from basecamp

How do I remove a Garmin GPS I no longer own from Basecamp?

Every time I open Basecamp an old Forerunner 405 comes up with 20 or so tracks listed below it....I delete the tracks but it pops up again every time I reopen.

Thanks
  • You can remove the device using Ant Agent. In the future we are planning to add an option to do the same from within BaseCamp.

  • I no longer have the Ant USB stick required to launch Ant Agent. Now what?

Your post is from 2012, today is 2015, i still cannot delete Forrunner405 from my device. I can delete tracks from it but once i restart the basecamp the tracks are back on the device.
When i start the AntAgent it says "Please connect the Ant USB stick".

I no longer have the Watch or the USB Ant Stick.

I'm sure this can be accomplished manually.

This is very annoying since i manage several devices and I constantly click on Forerunner 405 by mistake without realizing it, and start editing something, only to realize it will only be kept on that device. Or i drag/drop some routes to an incorrect device.

    Please advise!
  • Delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Devices/{ten digit code}

The ~/Library folder is hidden on newer OS X versions. Open a Finder Window and click the Go menu at the top of the screen. When you press the Option key with the Go menu open the Library choice is added to the menu; select it.
  • JaVaWa - you are my hero.

Thank you very much, JaVaWa! The solution worked perfectly! I have also recently found your website and interesting programs that you created for the GPS community and starting to experiment with them.

I really wanted to say THANK YOU for all your efforts.
  • Hello,
I was searching for the specified directory but it does not exist in version 4.2.4. Any other idea how to remove the device?
  • Found the mentioned folder. There are multiple Libraries on the MAC. One general that resides in the root-folder en there are Library-folders for each user-account. I initially looked in the general folder but found the folder I was looking for in the Library under my user-account, so in the private one. Many thanks for the solution to JavaWa!
  • Maybe I should have mentioned that on Unix-like operating systems (including Linux and Mac OS X), the tilde (~) indicates the current user's home directory ;)
  • Requesting option to select Garmin device data actively loaded in Basecamp (OS X)

While the to solution offered by you and JaVaWa works for devices you no longer use, there is another case to consider.
I use a FR 610 for training and an etrex30 (and other devices) for navigation. I don't want to delete the FR610 from my Garmin Devices folder because I still want that data from each training session. However, because it is 1s data it keeps crashing basecamp and takes forever to update every time I open basecamp. I would like to be able to select (in Basecamp) which of the Garmin devices in my "devices" folder should be included in a current basecamp session. That way I could just load data from the etrex30 or whatever nav device I'm interested in working with in terms of reviewing or planning routes. I don't want to break the ant agent functionality for my FR 610 just to be able to use basecamp.

Is there any chance you could implement a device selection menu in OS X basecamp? That would go a long way to helping people manage their devices (without breaking other functionality).

I recognize that you can already select what is displayed. The problem is that the program loads all data from all connected devices. Since the FR 610 or a 920 etc is always "connected" (data in the devices folder on the host computer), this is where the problem lies. It would help to be able to select which devices data will be loaded.

    Thanks.
