Updating Waypoints with BaseCamp

Good Evening...

Looking for some help, I searched the forum and couldn't find a direct answer...

I am using BaseCamp to help me organize and keep my waypoints in check (device is a nuvi 3590LMT). I have no problem creating waypoints on the nuvi itself, but it sure is nice to have a larger screen to work from at home (my iMac), to update the properties of the waypoint.

That said, I find that when I rename a waypoint, WaypointA to WaypointB, for example, the nuvi waypoint list will then give me both WaypointA AND WaypointB. If I delete WaypointA from within BaseCamp, when I go into the nuvi waypoint list, WaypointA is still there -- it even keeps re-appearing in BaseCamp. I have to manually remove the unwanted entries from the nuvi display before a delete will occur... That doesn't seem right!

Am I missing something? I could not find any other software, supported on OS X, that would allow me to update the waypoint list on the device, other than BaseCamp -- hoping I am simply overlooking the obvious.

Thanks!

  • You can't update or delete anything on your nuvi from within Basecamp, only send from BC to your nuvi.

This is a limitation of the nuvi, not BC.

To update my nuvi what I do is copy all the favourites etc into BC, then delete everything off the nuvi, edit the faourites within BC and send the whole lot back to the nuvi.

Reboot the nuvi and everything you've sent should then be there. Note that having checked your favourites are back on your nuvi you then need to delete the .gpx file that BC sent to your nuvi, or it can cause problems later on.
