Deleting Waypoints from Nuvi 1390

I have BaseCamp 3.3.2 and a Nuvi 1390. I have loaded a Pocket Query of Geocache waypoints into the Nuvi. At a later date I want to delete all of the Geocaching waypoints from the Nuvi and load a new set of waypoints.

I have found that after connecting the Nuvi to BaseCamp on my iMac, I can select all of the Geocaches and then under the Edit menu "Delete from Nuvi 1390". All of the way points disappear, but if I dismount the Nuvi from BaseCamp and then reconnect it to BaseCamp, the Geocache waypoints are still there.

How can I permanently delete waypoints from my Nuvi?

You can't delete waypoints etc from your nuvi using Basecamp, you need to do it from the GPS itself. Note that you will also need to first delete the PQ file that you sent to your nuvi.

Deleting Waypoints

If I cannot delete waypoints using BaseCamp, is there a way to bulk delete selected waypoints using the GPS?

I have about 800 Geocaching waypoints plus about 50 addressees that I don't want to delete when I delete my Geocaching waypoints. Deleting 800 waypoints one at a time would be painful.

Delete Waypoints from BaseCamp?

When a Nüvi 1390 waypoint is selected in BaseCamp, the option under the Edit Menu "Delete from nüvi 1390 (GARMIN)" in enabled.

If as you state, I cannot delete waypoints on the nüvi, why does this option exist in BaseCamp. I hope that this option ("Delete from nüvi 1390 (GARMIN)" ) enabled to work as the words indicate it should in the near future.

As I stated in my last message, deleting 800+ waypoints is a pain.

Best way is to transfer your favourites to Basecamp, then delete them all from your nuvi ... Tools>My data>Delete Favourites>Select all ... then use Basecamp to reinstall the ones you want.

You have to be kidding me. You can connect a Nüvi to Basecamp. You can add, rename, and otherwise modify waypoints. But you can not delete them? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I can manage them for my Garmin handhelds. What a total piece of junk!!!

It is not a BaseCamp issue. It is a limitation of the 13xx/14xx models.

It's a limitation of all the nuvis AFAIK :confused:

Incidentally you cannot add, rename and otherwise modify them either ... all you can do is add.

I thought I saw a post about some new nuvi model(s) where the limitation was removed. Or perhaps it's the Montana. Or maybe I need more tea :D

All recent Outdoor devices, including the Montana, doesn't have this limitation. Hopefully this is something we can get into the nuvi line sooner versus later.
