BaseCamp and Nuvi 37XX

The 37xx software update 4.50 version said:
Added the ability to import .GPX route files for use in Trip Planner.
Does BC support this feature without exporting the route to a gpx file? Will the imported route match the route in BaseCamp? I have used gpx files from Google Maps and I noticed that BC will change the route a little around major cities.

popej answered the question on the gpspassion forum. Basic it was as I feared, No Montana like solution in Trips.

37xx doesn't support routes. When importing route from gpx it converts it to a trip. It is like changing from single route with VIAs to a sequence of simple routes without VIAs. Routes are recalculated when importing, according to current settings in nuvi. Result can be different then in BaseCamp or Mapsource.

All of the Nuvi series will recalculate routes, even the ones that don't use the trip planner. I believe the old Nuvi 7x0 series did not recalculate routes by default, and neither does the Zumo series. This is discussed at some length here: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=25215
