If I open the properties window of a route, the toolbar gives me an option for "Print Setup". From here I go to "Print Map" and then to the print dialog. From this resulting dialog box an option to print to .pdf along with the usual .pdf options is opened. Selecting any of the options to save the .pdf in .jpg or .tff formats results in this error.
This would be a very handy process. Any idea why it's not working?

When I try this I get options to save as a PDF but nothing about jpg or tff and no error -- it creates a PDF just fine.
Correct. I get the top 4 items same as you, then under the dividing line I get three choices: add to iTunes, mail, and save to web receipts folder.
You must have used the Edit Menu choice at the bottom to add additional workflows and they may not be compatible with BC. I don't have Aperture, so maybe it added those items?

Negative on the edit menu. I looked at it but that's as far as I went. It's possible Aperture added the options. Very interesting. Having a way to print a map and routes and or waypoints to a .jpg without doing a capture would be nice. I'll play with it further.
I find Shft-Apple-4 to be much more convenient than any other method for grabbing maps, waypoints or anything displayed on the screen. It lets you draw a marquee with x/y coordinates and therefore do the editing all in one step.

It's what I usually use myself. I just wish it gave you the option of file type rather than stick you with .png... Or is there a way? ;)
Ctrl-Shft-Apple-4 will copy the selected area to the clipboard. At that point, you could paste it into Preview or any other program whose output would be a jpg or tiff.
It appears the extra options are indeed unique to my system, they show up in other applications as well. I just never looked. Now to figure out where they came from and why they don't work.
