BirdsEye Imagery-Basecamp

Hello
Before I start muckin around with things, I wanted to ask this..

I wanted to d/l some more BirdsEye imagery but, as you know my 62st only has so much room on it's drive and the area I want to d/l is quite large.

Can I remove previously d/l imagery and store it somewhere for future use?
When I r/c on an imagery in Basecamp and in the menu, one of the choices is 'remove'.. Does this just remove it from the device and is kept in Basecamp, or does it remove it all together?

Another question I had is..
When out in the field and looking at my location in an area with imagery loaded, it is very difficult to see roads unless I zoom in a great deal. When I do that I'm too close to do any good. The resolution in BirdsEye isn't all that great anyway, even with the max setting.
Is there a way to 'turn off' the imagery in the 62st temporarily so I just see the 24K West map?

I have used a 16GB card in my Oregon and Montana that was filled with Birdseye. It works fine, but the GPS takes a long time to read that card when you first start up - maybe 30 seconds. I found that unacceptable, so I no long use that much on my GPS at one time.

Yes, you can store the files on your computer, and you really should do this anyway. After sending imagery to your GPS, copy all of the .jnx files from the Birdseye folder on the device to a folder on your computer. You should make it a point to send everything you've downloaded and keep a full backup of it on your computer while your BIrdseye subscription is still active.

After your subscription expires, these files will continue to work even if you don't renew your subscription because they have already been unlocked for your device. However, if you don't renew your subscription you will no longer be able to send imagery from Basecamp to your GPS, regardless of the fact that your subscription was active when it was originally downloaded.

So backup all the unlocked files from your device. In the future, you can just drag/drop them back to your GPS when you need them (which is also faster than sending from Basecamp).

Hey thanks! That is working out very well.
I'm also discovering that I can save a lot of space by using the 'draw' feature in BirdsEye thereby capturing the area that I actually need. :)

Since I bought a BirdsEye subscription, a few weeks ago, I've been copying the JNX files to multiple removable drives on multiple computers.

I actually find the BirdsEye images better than those in Google Earth/Maps--at least in the areas I've downloaded.

They are much, much better than Google's imagery in my location as well. However, I've seen enough user reports to know that this can vary considerably depending on your location.
