Installing City Navigator on Basecamp

I recently got a Montana and City Navigator NA on DVD. I installed the maps on my gps unit with no problem. However, I then wanted to install the map into basecamp to create routes. I tried using mapinstaller but basecamp says there is not enough space. Is it a DRM issue b/c i already installed the maps on my GPS unit?

Any suggestions?

MapManager is used to install maps on the Macintosh.

MapInstall is used to install maps on the GPS.

I hope your problem is that simple.

If you installed the map on your Montana, I think it is probably already installed on your computer. Doesn't it show under the Maps menu in Basecamp? If you run Garmin Mapmanager (look in your Applications folder) do you see City Navigator on the list? AFAIK, the maps have to be installed on the computer before they can be installed on a GPS.

Guess it depends unless the map download to the mac is different from a PC; you get three options including download to device only. Still worth the OP checking; as you say it may be there already ;)

Well, the OP said he installed the map from a DVD. I don't know what may have changed, but in the past the only way to do that was to first install it on your computer, then send it to a device.

Don't know about 'hot in Sussex' but definitely 'hot for Sussex' ... 31 in my garden by the fish pond, that's 88 for you guys t'other side of the big pond ;)

About 29c on my front porch in the shade right now. It will get much hotter around here later in the summer. :)

That's why I said hot for Sussex ;)

I remember flying from DC to Las Vegas and arriving when it was 106 ... also waking up in Fort Huachuca AZ to find snow on the ground :)
