Just BOUGHT download version - help?

I just paid for the Download only version of City Navigator US. How the hell do I download the maps I just bought without sending them to my handheld? I want the .gmap file so I can view them in Basecamp and manage which subset of the maps get sent to my (only 2gb) older eTrex. I do NOT want to push the entire set to my device and not have any options to edit routes/waypoints, etc.

The ONLY option on the website is to install the maps to my device via the Communicator plugin, and I'm really leary of doing that until I know for sure that'll also give me access to the .gmap files. If all I'm getting for my 60 bucks is an .img file, I just want a refund and I'll use Open Street Map data...

Unfortunately you cannot do that with the download version. You would need to purchase the DVD if you want to send a smaller section of the map. You might try contacting Garmin support and explain the problem. It's possible they will credit the cost of the download towards the purchase of the DVD version.
