Route Displays as Straight Line in GPSmap 62s

I am using Base Camp 3.3.2 to create a route between two waypoints. The route creates fine. The route displays as a pink line that follows the road between the two waypoints on the Base Camp map (TOPO U.S. 24K Southwest).

I then download the route to my GPSmap 62s and select the route from the Route Planner. I press Enter and then scroll to and select View Map. The route then displays as a straight line between the two waypoints rather than following the road between the two waypoints as it did in Base Camp.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Do you have the same map installed in your 62? What routing settings are set in your 62?

Yes. I have the maps that cover the relevant area installed on an SDHC card that is in the 62s.

Route Settings in the 62s are: Main Menu>Setup>Routing...Guidance Method>Off Road; Calculate Routes for>Car/Motorcycle; Lock On Road>No; Off Road Transitions>Auto; Avoidance Setup>Road Features

Are those settings the same in BC? Have a look at the activity profile that you're using in BC. I think you'll need to set the routing on your 62 to 'on road' ... seems strange I know.

I think your 62s is doing just what you told it to do. You have selected "off road" routing. That means it will not follow the roads and will take you in a straight line from the start to the finish.

Many thanks. Yes, I did have the Routing Guidance Method set to Off Road. I reset it to On Road for Distance, and all is well.:)
