new user need basic help

Hi all,
i have just aquired a new 62s for hiking. I am trying to create some walks for a forthcoming holiday and wanted to know the best way. I am currently createing a trail in BC and then converting that to a route to transfer to my 62s. Is this the best way to create a navigable 'trail' to follow at a later date.

Go easy i know its basic.:confused:

Only think I would do differently is to create a route in the first place rather than a track and then convert it to a route? Is there any reason why you're using a 2 step process?

i could not work out how to get the route function to work, as a could not drag the start point to where i wanted to start from, then following some googling found a video that suggested this way.

You may already know about these, however, you can search for hikes others have already done on sites like garmin explore or everytrail and send them to your device to follow. A great way to find trails in an area you've never been before without fear of getting lost !

thanks for that. I tried to use the route tool however it wouldnt follow the path i wanted and kept trying to get back to roads. The result bing that the route plotted was unusable and un representative of the one i was trying to create, Is the a setting im missing?:confused:
