Request: Show what part of map installed on device

I have a large map installed in BaseCamp but have sent only a portion of that map to my device. When viewing the full map via BaseCamp, I'd like to see some indication of what portion of that map exists on the currently attached device.

This is so that I don't try to create a route or waypoint that would extend off the map on the device.

Tech support told me there is no way to do this, so please consider this a feature request!

(I'm using BaseCamp 3.3.2.0 on a Mac)

Thanks

    Alex,

In the meantime you could use JaVaWa Device Manager to make your maps on the GPS visible within BaseCamp. That way you can use those installed maps to do your planning when the GPS is connected to BaseCamp.

    Dan,

Neat app! Thanks for the reference. Another option I discovered using JaVaWa is to make the partial map sitting on the device visible in BaseCamp. Then, I delete the big map database from BaseCamp and just view the partial one on the device. This lets me view the actual waypoints/routes on the map itself. Of course, I have to have the device plugged in to see the map. But that's OK.

Prior to you pointing out JaVaWa, I created waypoints along the edges of my partial map. Then, when viewing the complete map in BaseCamp, I got a rough idea of where the edges of the partial map were. But that was kinda kludgy.

    Thanks again!
