slow start up due to forerunner track loading?

Hi, apologies if this is a question addressed elsewhere.

I'm on a mac running osx 10.6.8 and have basecamp 3.3.2.0 for routeplanning onto an Edge 800.

Whenever I start basecamp it's unusable for several minutes whilst it acquires data associated with my forerunner 610 (which it found automatically). Is there a way of avoiding this part of the process, because it seems to trigger crashes if I try anything else at the same time and I'm not really interested in route planning my running. For instance can I disassociate the forerunner somehow, or can I drag the individual files into 'my collection' so that they are already in basecamp... or would it still take up time and processing power attempting to work out what it has or hasn't got. Or can I change something so that it only tries to fetch that data if I want it to?

It's not getting it from the watch (which is off) so it must be from GarminConnect or a cache on the laptop itself.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks
