Base Camp Routes and Garmin Nuvi2340

I don't believe you can. The latest nuvis use 'trips' not routes ;)

Nuvi 2340 doesn't support import of routes. You can transfer waypoints and rebuild trip manually with trip planner but this won't be classic route as we used to know and like.

Don't fell bad about your Nuvi, even if it did allow importing the route, your not going to be a happy camper. Transferring a route on my Nuvi 1490 LTM is as easy as drag in BC but it goes to a import file and you have to get on the Nuvi, go to My Data, import the route before it shows under routes. You back out and go to routes and select the route. The Nuvi uses the BC waypoints to recalculate the route and if the route preferences don't match exactly, you get a different route. Once you get an imported route on the Nuvi the is no way to delete these routes except plugging the Nuvi into you mac and deleting the garmin/gpx folder. I think after 10 routes on mine, it starts over writing the routes.

That's not true. Having imported a route you can delete it should you wish. Your 1490 won't overwrite a route either, if you have 10 it won't allow you to create a new one until you choose which one to delete.

There is a significant advantage to the import system, since you can load hundreds of routes onto the 1490, and just import the ones you want when you need them, this gets around the 10 route limit that Garmin specify ;)

Yes you can delete the route but the import file is different from the route. This file has to be deleted from the desktop or oven written after 10. I use BC to store all my geodata. I keep my 1490 very clean. I just find it easier to store all my destinations favorites. I tap where to, select from a short list of favorites for one trip and have a route. If I upload a route, I upload the route to the GPS, Tap Tools, Tap down arrow, tap import routes. This converts the uploaded file to a route you cans see when you back out 3 taps, go to routes, 2 taps and select the route. Most times you have to decide if you want to go the the start or your designation.

I was just trying to make JAYTEE1960 feel a little better about Garmin selling him a high model number that would not import routes.

I have numerous routes stored and import when required. Like you I also create routes on the unit
