Installed BaseCamp 3.3.2.0 - lost "My Collection"

I have just installed the new version of base camp. When I opened it, the "My Collection" window was empty. Very frustrating!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might recover them? Does anyone know where the file(s) containing my gpx routes are located on the hard disk - I'll go looking.

Thanks in advance.
  • No Database

When I look under the path, there is no garmin directory. There is a garmin directory under Mac HD/Library but the only sub-directory is "maps". Everything was working fine before the "upgrade".....
  • No Collection

Thanks, TJOEKBEZOER! That worked. I guess Garmin is better at making GPSs than they are doing system level software.......

Works!, Thank you, You just saved my summer :)

Duplicating the old 3.2 database folder and renaming it 3.3 worked for me. I have recovered 'My Collection'. Here's what I did.

    - Close Basecamp
    - Open finder
    - Use hotkey cmd+shift+G (In Lion, the User Library is invisible)
    - Type in ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/BaseCamp/Database/
    - Press Enter to go to the folder
    - Assuming you came from 3.2, you should see at least two folders: '3.2' and '3.3'
    - Rename '3.3' to something like '3.3_original'
    - Duplicate your '3.2' folder
    - Rename this duplicate '3.3'
    - Restart Basecamp; your 'My Collection' should be back

That's what's worked for me. Hope for you too!

The same thing just happened to me. Thanks for the tip, after renaming the directory all seems to be back to normal.
  • O Dear Garmin,

Why O Why do you insist on putting User Data inside of an invisible Library Folder?

    This practice just ain't right......

New Mac users have sooooo much trouble understanding how to deal with these things. Data should be inside the documents folder ..... Period.......

Hallelujah Brother!......Can I get an Amen?!
  • Same problem as others. I had an old database that i was able to copy from Road Trip that saved my bacon.

Also have a flag: Alert- There was a problem communicating with the Garmin Device.

    Oregon 450
All software updated on the device.

This update was not ready for prime time....
  • same thing here, and yes copying the 3.2 folder and renaming it to 3.3 did the trick.

    Uff, lucky me!

    Worked for me

I, too, lost "My Collection" when I upgraded to 3.3.2 from the App Store, but the fix of duplicating the 3.2 library and renaming it 3.3 did work.

I loaded the latest BC on my MacBook and installed it. Had the problem of the old version coming up. Then I removed the icon from the dashboard and double clicked on BC in applications. 3.3.2 came up fine. Went back to applications and dragged the icon to the dashboard and all is well.

    Why did this work?

I don't know, but it worked for me as well. Quicker than recreating the directory. Of course I also would like to know why this worked. Ahem, on second thought, I don't ...
