Basecamp is messing up my Garmin

I have an Etrex 30 with a 16Gb MicroSd card.
When I connect my Etrex to my iMac I see (Garmin1) and Garmin.
The last one is the Microsd card.
I only want to store maps on the MicroSd card.
When I connect all routes and waypoints are copied from Garmin1 to Garmin
when I delete all files from Garmin and disconect to see what is on the device it looks OK but after I connected the device to Basekamp everything is restored again even files which I deleted permanently are back on the MicrSd. What is happening?
  • Based on your description, it is difficult to figure out what is going on. BaseCamp does not copy files from one volume to the other. Part of the problem could be the fact that when you delete files from a volume (card or device) using Finder they are moved into the trash on that device. After you delete files, you should empty the trash to really get rid of them.

I tried it again. Deleted files from my MicroSd in Basecamp but didn't see any files in my trash. But I emptied the trash and reconnected the device and all the deleted files are back again.
  • Depending on the files you are trying to delete, Garmin handle different files different. If I want to delete uploaded routes from my Nuvi, I have to delete the files in the Garmin/GPX folder and empty the trash. Garmin also copies some files from the SD card automatically. You may have to try a couple of times to get the right tech support guy but I if you call, they can probably fix your problem. If you allow the can remote into your mac.

You can try deleting the temp.gpx file from the GPS - my edge 705 stores everything transferred from basecamp in that one file.
