BaseCamp Possible Virus?

I was told by BaseCamp that it had down loaded 3.3.2. I hit install and it wiped out the routes I was working on and now all it does is ask if I want to install 3.3.2. The trip I was working on is not in the file I usually save it to and a search for the file name does not return it.

The trip had 15 + routes over 10K miles. Needles to say I will not be the poster child for Garmin.

Removed BaseCamp and went to Garmin's site for a fresh copy of 3.3.2. Downloaded and installed it found the "lost" trip and it appears to be complete. Not sure where it found the trip file as the Apple Search feature couldn't locate it.

    A very upsetting two hours.

It sounds like your BaseCamp autoupdating installed an old update, and thus temporarily downgraded itself to something that couldn't read your newer data. It probably happened via a combination of downloading updates manually and automatically, via either BaseCamp or RoadTrip.

Sorry for the inconvenience; we'll look into making it harder for that to happen.

Thanks for taking the interest. It was a panic stricken time as this was the first long trip (17+ routes, well over 12K miles) I've done in BaseCamp. Between the trip planning/plotting and learning BaseCamp a lot of hours are in that file.

    Best Regards,

    Same issue coming from 3.2.2

I've got the same problem coming from 3.2.2 and updating through the automatic update.
I removed the 3.3 and installed a fresh from web site without success.
I used my time machine to get my data back with the old 3.2.2 ( data are under /Users/bruno/Library/Application Support/Garmin/BaseCamp )

I'm waiting the next update to move forward

    Bruno,

The issue you're describing seems to differ from Len's, as his data "came back" after installing the latest version of BaseCamp. His problem seemed to be that an older version of BaseCamp somehow got installed and it couldn't read his data.

Are you sure that you're launching the latest version after running the installer? It's possible you have it installed multiple times and ran the wrong one. You can check the version of BaseCamp you're currently running by going to the BaseCamp > About menu.

Another possible cause of this issue is an error reading your data. Did you get an alert telling you your data was corrupt and could not be loaded when you ran BaseCamp 3.3.2 for the first time?
