Feature Request: Toolbar

Would it be possible to have the toolbar automatically return to the previous view after using a dropdown menu? I like my toolbars as "text only" to maximize the amount of screen available for the map, especially on smaller netbooks. As it is, I need to constantly reset the toolbar after any change in activity or mapset.

To my knowledge, this is common behavior in Mac OSX toolbars. Would hiding the toolbar in fullscreen mode free up screen space in the way you have in mind?

Actually, including "Activity" somewhere in one of the main menus or having a hot key for it would eliminate the need for the toolbar all together for me. I could then hide it permanently. The same could be said for the search bar. All of the search functions are already available on the menu bar and the most often used are hot keyed. I find I'm doing more and more planning on my Macbook Air and less on my iMac, so screen coverage is important.

I just find it frustrating that the toolbar reverts to the most intrusive mode on activation of a drop down and doesn't return to my setting after a selection is made.

    Thanks for responding.

What kind of dropdowns are you talking about?

I can't make mine behave like yours is.

I set my tool bar to text only, and played around with several menu items.
The tool bar did not change.

    EDIT:

OIC now I finally figured out what you are referring to.

I just looked through all of my Apps that offer the option to right click and change the tool bar display from text only to icons to icons and text. BaseCamp is the only one of those apps that has dropdown menus located on the tool bar. Other tool bar items that expect the user to make a choice bring up a dialog box. Those apps do not have the same behavior as BaseCamp.

OK Garmin, this is your BAD!!! Drop down menus belong on the main menu, not on that style of toolbars. That seems very obvious to me, after looking around through my other apps.
