Must have feature request!

I hope I'm not being stupid here, but this is a step back. In RoadTrip I could route via clicking places on the map. This was great for "what-if" planning for snowmobile touring. It seems in BaseCamp (and maybe I just don't know how) that I must create Waypoints to create a route - clogging up my Collection with points I don't need.

The Create Route tool works but requires dragging and dropping existing Waypoints to act as BEGIN and END points. That is a pain that requires crating extraneous Waypoints for what-if planning.

Using RoadTrip, or MapSource, I was able to click anywhere as a BEGIN, END, or VIA point.

Perhaps I can set a preference that I am unaware of??

There's a "route" tool in BaseCamp in addition to the "createroute" tool. It functions the way you're expecting. Right click on the toolbar, choose customize and add it. For some strange reason Garmin doesn't think it belongs in the default tool set.

Or you can use the Tools menu to pick the Route Tool (short-cut ctrl-R).

Sorry; I have had it in my tool bar since forever so forgot it doesn't automagically appear there.

No problem, you answer was perfectly natural and sensible given the feature actually did exist, I just didn't look hard enough for it.
