Categories & Smart Lists

I know I have asked this before (or maybe I just thought it) so forgive me, I'm old and can't find the post. :o

Can the Dev Team explain why Smart List's can't be Categories?

Now that List = Category in the Beta v3.3.0.2, it would seem that one of the most useful functions of a Smart List would be the creation/management of Categories. Creating a Smart List sure beats the heck out of dragging/dropping thousands of Waypoints into new Lists (Categories).

Besides obvious but avoidable issues like the"Recently Downloaded" and "Recently Imported/Received/etc." lists showing up, I'd say the main reason is that there's no easy way to remove a waypoint from a smart list, so if we treated smart lists as categories there'd then be a category that can't be removed without changing the category itself.

    D'oh!

Of course you can't delete an object from a Smart List. Thanks for giving my old brain a nudge.

It is easy enough to use the filtering properties of the Smart List and then copy the contents into a "real" List (Category).

Thanks again for taking the time to education.

    Cheers,
