BaseCamp 3.3.0.2 beta posted

Just to prove that we are listening, we are releasing 3.3.0.2 which fixes several issues that have been reported from the first beta.

The beta is downloadable from: http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCamp_3.3.0.2_Beta.dmg. If you are already running BaseCamp 3.3.0.1, it should automatically update to 3.3.0.2.

We are very interested in your feedback, please report bugs and oddities you find, and comment on the new features.

  • Fixed + and - to correctly zoom in and out
  • Fixed crash that could occur when ejecting a device
  • Fixed issue where columns in the Detailed User Data View could get repeated
  • Fixed issue where Undo and holding the Alt Key would terminate the current route creation using the Route Tool
  • Fixed to be able to read waypoint categories from newer devices.
  • Added ability to edit phone numbers in the Waypoint Contact Info tab.
  • Fixed zumo 5x0 and 4x0 route transfer issues. Note that this may cause route transfer issues on the zumo 660. A future firmware update on the 660 will address this issue
  • Fixed any profiles from BaseCamp 3.2 that have invalid routing preferences (ie invalid vehicle types and incorrect avoidances)

Known Issues:
  • Proximity waypoints sent to SD cards in outdoor devices will not have the proximity show up in the device. Sending the waypoints directly to the device does work.
  • Reading routes from a Zumo 660 may cause a crash. Issues is being investigated, but the circumstances seem to be rare.

Edit: Link changed to a different server that should work

    It think these do.

Thanks for this, I received my Intel Mac this evening. So I am starting to get some things set up.
This will be the first Garmin software I will load.

It looks like the Garmin servers are having issues this morning. Autoupdate seems to still work. I'll get this posted somewhere else in the meantime.

Autoupdate worked fine for me last night, but the direct link didn't.
  • Nicely done -- seems a bunch of bugs are squashed.

I loaded my "torture test" route consisting almost entirely of shaping points. In past versions of BC this would mean disaster on my zumo 660, including crashes, missing points, and other weirdness. It transferred fine, shows all points including start and end with checkered flag, and though I haven't road tested it, looks like it will work fine.

I had no trouble transferring this route to an SD card in my zumo 660, using drag-n-drop within the new BC beta.

There are still some minor map drawing issues -- a rectangular portion of the map at high zoom will sometimes be left blank until you zoom in or out when using Show on Map with a waypoint -- but all in all this is a huge step forward.

    Thanks!

  • So far one crash on exit. Crash log attached.

I can duplicate it every time if I try Show on Map at a fairly high zoom level. It seems like the map is trying to redraw and if I quit the app, it crashes. With the map fully drawn, no crash. Changing the map drawing performance slider has no effect on this map drawing bug, BTW.

So far working well. Although the map redraw speed is very slow at high zoom levels even with the lowest Detail setting and with NO Labels or Overlays.

    Cheers,
  • It appears that even when the "Shopping" map feature is not selected, (check box clear), the yellow cart icons still appear.

    Routing prefs

It's OK to preset the routing options, but please do not block the options.

E.g. in the bicycling routing prefs the avoidance options "Toll Roads" and "Carpool Lanes" are blocked.
Please allow the users to change them too.

    Thanks and regards - Klaus

AS in the previous beta version, I am still having trouble when zooming: there's a big blank square appearing when I zoom in and it takes a long time for the map to re-draw. Like someone else reported, Basecamp crashed when I tried to close it with the map zoomed in, but before the map had time to re-draw (it was taking far too much time and I simply decided to close the application to get out of it).
