3.3 Beta

Since I can't post a reply (see other forum for technical issues) I'll start a thread the administrators can move if they want. I downloaded the new beta version and didn't like it overwrote my older version instead of installing a new (beta) version to compare.

As for what I wanted to reply about problems, while the beta solved the hide unused HD's (like iDisk), it didn't solve the problem of the pesky pop up window whenever Time Machine ejects the HD on the desktop at the end of the backup process. It still opens the app if it's hidden to pop up a window it can't eject the HD. When I catch it listing the TC HD it won't hide it.

This still raises the question why is the app looking for HD's which aren't necessary or used? Why not let the user add HD's than hiding or eject them? Why is it even looking for sources when the user can add them?

Anyway, that's my bug with it. I don't open it now except for occasional use and don't hide it when not in use, I hate seeing a string of popup windows if I go away for awhile or overnight.

    Time Machine eject notifications

it didn't solve the problem of the pesky pop up window whenever Time Machine ejects the HD on the desktop at the end of the backup process. It still opens the app if it's hidden to pop up a window it can't eject the HD. When I catch it listing the TC HD it won't hide it.

This Time Machine error notification is indeed very annoying. If i keep BC running for a while, lock the Mac and come back after a few hours, there is an awful lot of error notifications about the unauthorized ejection of the Time Machine disk.

I use a Synology NAS with Time Machine support (DSM 3.2 software) and when Time Machine process starts, it mounts the network disk, makes the backup and ejects the network disk. Then BaseCamp gives the error.

    Update:
What i now see it's not an disk, but a sparsefile which is mounted during backup.

I mount the Time Machine.sparsefile manually, it did show up in BaseCamp, i did the Ctrl-Click on the volume in BC and choose Hide.

This seems to do the trick and i don't have eject errors in BaseCamp.

My question now is, is there also an Unhide option for disks?

Ah, found it, in the header of the disks is an eye symbol, click on it to unhide all.
  • Interesting, but hiding the disk has no effect on the bug, which is that BC throws an error when the Time Machine disk un-mounts after a backup.

Hiding does the trick for me, no eject errors anymore on both of my Mac's

(Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 and Lion 10.7.2)
  • This error has been fixed will be in the next release. Thanks for reporting this issue.
