3.3 beta, nuvi 750, and shaping points.

Thanks for the upgrade, activities, avoidances, and preferences are much improved as is many more features. The following is a summary of my attempts to upload a route with a shaping point to a Nuvi 750. I used Automative activities, Fastest, and avoiding u turns-unpaved roads in BC and on the Nuvi. Dragging the end waypoints of a 329 mile BC route (start was current location) to the Nuvi recalculated the route to be 329 (perfect). I added a shaping point to the route and BC calculated 345. I dragged the route to the Nuvi, imported the route on the Nuvi. The imported route had the shaping point but the route was 13 miles longer than the route in BC.

I started over with the original 329 mile route, added a waypoint and inserted the waypoint (different spot that shaping point) in the route. BC calculated 383 miles. I transfer the three waypoints to the Nuvi, calculated the route using current location, and endpoint to get the 329 miles shown in BC. I inserted the waypoint using the BC route as a via in the Nuvi route and the calculated was 388 or 5 miles longer than the BC.

I did not take the time to compare the routes to verify where of if the routes were actually taking a different path and I consider the results pretty good when you consider the number and age of the devices BC is supporting. Just wondering if anyone has an explanation for the difference in miles when recalculated on the GPS.
