Location inaccuracy

I am in the "Automotive" use mode and zoomed the map to the 120' level. I then selected the waypoint tool and moved along my street until my address showed. It was a good 300' from my actual location. Reminds of that early commercial, I think it was an insurance company, where a guy using a GPS follow the "turn right now" command and ends up in a plate glass window. If I were geocahing I sure would miss the cache. :(
  • Even google with all their billions can't give you roof top accuracy. Street numbers are assigned in blocks and do not have coordinates. In most cases 300 ft is close enough, you must be in a rural area. If find city addresses to be closer than 300' in most cases.

Hmmm. I guess that explains why I've seen the location I'm going to go by before I expected it to show up. Moral to story use coordinates when possible and keep a sharp lookout as one is approaching a destination. I noticed that I set my device home location while parked in my drive and it always brings me back to the drive.
