BaseCamp 3.2.2 released

Available at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4450

  • Fixed receiving from Oregons getting stuck for some geocache users.
  • Fixed startup crashes some users were experiencing.
  • Fixed possible track corruption when duplicating and then editing tracks.
  • Fixed loss of photo waypoint thumbnails, added automatic thumbnail recovery when first starting 3.2.2.
  • Fixed adding/removing via points to a route setting its activity to the current app setting.
  • Fixed the creation of routes from tracks potentially creating too many via points.
  • Fixed a possible crash when sending routes to the Edge 800.
  • Fixed the error dialog for 3D rendering issues coming up multiple times in a row.
  • Fixed a bug that would mistakenly open some waypoint photo links as web links.
  • Fixed a possible crash when attempting to show a route on the map.
  • Fixed Topo Great Britain's display when rotated in 2D.
  • Fixed a possible route profile crash for routes with the same point multiple times.
  • Fixed found address markers being the wrong color.
  • Fixed BirdsEye Imagery with slashes in the name creating directories on the device.
  • Fixed other miscellaneous bugs.

Edit: BaseCamp 3.2.2 has also been posted to the App Store, but there is reason to believe it will not go live. Apple has imposed new restrictions on submitted apps, which we are working with Apple to reconcile. If you are having issues with BaseCamp 3.2.1 from the App Store, I would suggest downloading the version from the above link.

Thanks for all the fixes! However tracks are still drawn way too thin to be useful. Could you *please* include a setting for different track thicknesses?!
An element in the preferences .plist would do. No fancy UI required.
(I would even use a hex editor, if you tell me which bytes represent that internal thickness variable ;) )

    Please... :(

I really *love* the new features but cannot upgrade until I can see my tracks again.
  • The bug which causes the map to load at full zoom-out is still there. Otherwise, so far looking very good. Thanks!

I'm seeing this occasionally as well. No consistency, non repeatable.
  • Slow launch

I find both 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 to be painfully slow to launch on my MacBook. What's odd is that 3.2.1 was loading fine until about a week ago, at which time it began the crash-on-launch syndrome and I assumed it was due to corrupt track segment files. I deleted those, and prefs, even started with a fresh database, and finally got it to load, but v e r y slowly.

So when 3.2.2 came along I hoped that would be the cure. It does not crash on launch, but takes a few minutes -- not seconds -- to load. It was never a launch speed demon, but something is broken here. (EDIT: I just timed it at 2:19 to load from when the icon is clicked.)

My MacBook is a 2.4 gHz Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM running 10.5.8.

BC is working fine on my i3 iMac under 10.6.8.

I have a crash when starting BC 3.2.2

    Crash report included

I tried to remove the Preference file, did get a notification about older maps, but it silently shutdown. No errors or warnings in a dialog box. The second time nothing, only silent shutdown.

When I start it it's asking to select an Activity profile but there are none in the list so I'm being forced to use Task Manager to exit.

It appears you accidentally zipped up the alias file to the crash report file. This is a change Apple's done pretty recently. The actual file exists in ~/Library/Logs/Diagnostics Report/.
If you still can, zip up the crash report file and we'll take a look at it.

You mention Task Manager. Are you using the Windows version by chance?
