Hey guys,
I bought the Topo US 24k West DVD and want to import it in to the latest version of Basecamp. I know it sounds simple, but i've spent 2 hours trying with no luck. Can anyone give simple instructions on how to accomplish this?

Thanks
Scott
  • It's been so long since I installed using a DVD, I may be telling you wrong especially with application updates but here is my best guess. Download Garmin MapInstall 2.1.6.

Start MapInstall and plug in your Garmin GPS. Select the device. Insert you DVD into the computer. Hopefully mapInstall will allow you to select the DVD and install the maps on your computer. I have been updating maps using the downloaded maps from garmin. The download requires you to click an advance button before you can see the check box to install maps on computer. I don't believe you can install maps on a computer with the GPS plugged into the usb port.

I will assume that you already have BaseCamp v3.2.1 installed on your Mac:

    • Place DVD into your DVD Drive on your Mac.
    • A Finder window should open showing a "Install TOPO U.S. 24K West v2.mpkg" installation package.
    • Double-click on the installation package.
    • Installation will begin. . .follow instructions.

    Cheers,
