Basecamp "stuck" communication with device

I am attempting to load waypoints from my Garmin Orgeon 400T to my Basecamp map and am receiving the error message:

The Selected Device is Busy.
Please try again once Oregon 400t (GARMIN) has finished receiving.

Which would be fine - except it NEVER stops "receiving" and I cannot stop the process.

I've subscribed to both Birdseye data as well as US/Can TOPO, but I don't really like the TOPO maps. I want to transfer TOPO maps that I purchased earlier for Canada via MapSource. My idea was to transfer them from MapSource to the device, from the device to Basecamp and voila - have my maps and waypoints in one happy place.

At any rate, I can't even transfer waypoints and routes - let alone my maps.

The device itself works via a browser (latest plugins) - as I am able to transfer my routes via connect.garmin.com to my Activity log for cycling. So the issue seems directly related to Basecamp itself.

Any ideas on how to progress? At this point, I am thinking of not bothering with Basecamp - but it looks pretty and I'd love to use it. I just want the better topo maps and a place to consolidate my tracks and waypoints.
  • I hate to further dampen your experience, but BaseCamp will not read maps that are created and sent by you to the device. You will need to use Map Converter on the PC to convert the maps to Mac format and then move them to your Mac. See the numerous threads on this forum that discuss moving PC maps to the Mac.

As for the problem with the device read never ending, if you have a file in your /Garmin folder on the device called geocache_visits.txt, please send us that file and then rename it. There seems to be an issue processing some of those files. Hopefully you should then be able to complete the reading of your device. Sorry for the inconvenience.
