OK, I transferred a route (auto) from the Mac to the 60Cx, but the IFR (I follow roads) route I set up on the Mac, gets to the Cx as a direct routing (not IFR).
I have not looked up the specs on your 60cx but I think the model was a general purpose but even with top of the line on the road nuvi models, route transfer from BaseCamp to gps is a problem. When you transfer a route to your 60 cx, all that is transferred (I think) is the waypoints used to calculate the routes. If you have the same map and same preference available on your gps, you should get the same route when the route is recalculated. Proble is you don't have many options for routing. Even the latest Nuvis don't come close to having the same routing optionS as BC, and the 32xx top of the line nuvi do not allow routes to be uploaded from BC or MapSource unless Garmin has released a firmware fix.
DRTBYK has a question about the Montana which may have routing features to match BC but for the road, I prefer the Nuvi line with life time maps and for the outdoors, I use a Dakota which has paperless GeoCaching and works great with BC.
I don,t think Garmin can fix even the latest Nuvis and they won't think about fixing your 60cx. Montana might be a fix for you but Garmin doesn't sell an on the road solution for BC and routing.
The 60c(s)x is perfectly capable of turn-by-turn routing. It is not as sleek and sexy as a Nuvi but definitely functional.
Have the 60cx recalculate its route, it should ask you whether on road or off road. I don't have my 60csx handy so I can't tell you every keystroke but that ought to put you on the right track.
Now, I assume you have routable maps on your 60csx, something like CN NT and that they are unlocked to your device. You may also be using OSM maps, and those are routable too.
If you don't have routable maps, then the GPS will give you the direct oo road route...
Yes it is capable of turn by turn routing but I assumed the user wanted to create a route using BaseCamp and transfer the route to his gps. If the route the gps calculate is different from the BaseCamp route and it probable will be, it sorter of defeats the purpose of BaseCamp.
After re-reading your post, I figured out how IFR relates to your question. You question was very straight forward but I have the bur about the difficulty of getting the same route drawn on my Garmin that was showing in basecame.
Sarlabs is correct. if you have the same maps or at least maps with route information like City Navigator or the 24k maps all your have to do is have the 60cx draw the route and tell it on road or auto routing depending on your options. If you are seeing a straight line you had to have drawn the route on the 60cx and if you did not see the question about on road or off, check you preference file for auto or direct routing. If you have the unit set for auto routing, your maps are probably your problem.
I go to 'My Collections' in Basecamp, highlight the route, select 'Send to GPS', and the route shows up, but not along the roads like I set it up in Basecamp, just direct from waypoint to waypoint.
Remember that the 60cx and the computer have two different programs to calculate routes. Why is a valid question to which I don't have an answer but even in newer units and even Nuvis, you bump into the same problem.
The only solution is to use via points, forcing the GPS to take the desired route. Start putting via points at critical locations. How many? Depends on your route. It is a trial and error matter.

I think it is because when the route is sent over the simplest route is two points, a start and end waypoint. The only way the gps can get the route from the two points is to recalculate the route. If you have the same maps on the computer and GPS plus the same route preference options, the Nuvi line does a pretty good job of getting the same route. Problem is most of the "on the road" GPS don't have preference that match the routing options in BaseCamp and with the Activity option, nothing comes close unless the Montana has options to match BaseCamp. In BaseCamp if you use No preference for roads, select Car and just use fastest or shortest and set your nuvi to fastest or shortest I pretty much get the same routes on the GPS as in BaseCamp. The 60cx may have a different routing algorithm and not match any of the routing options found in baseCamp. If you consider the 6 activities, 2 Calculation modes, 3 road preferences, and 6 Avoid options. I think that is 216 possible difference routes but in reality many of the combinations yields the same route. Out of 216 possible combination of route but with the Nuvi line you can only hope to match 2 BaseCamp routes unless another combination of preferences yields the same route. I don't think BaseCamp can fix the problem, I think it has to be fixed on the GPSs.
