Straight line in automotive

Just created a route in BC in automotive mode but it remains a straight line. Any ideas what I'm missing? I use Road Trip without problems.

Which map are you using? Where is the route? Make sure your automotive profile's preferences are set to direct routing.

It was the mapping. I was using US basemap v2. I am now on City Navigator Europe 2012. Many thanks. Is Basecamp preferred over Road trip now? It's certainly quicker when using the hand tool.
